The most widely viewed is the 1997 film Titanic, directed by James Cameron and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. After its release it became one of the highest-grossing films in history. The film grossed over $1.8 billion worldwide and won 11 Academy Awards. The wide success of the film spurred interest in the Titanic story to a new generation.
